Quick update on Book 3 (and a teaser synopsis!)

Just wanted to let everyone know where things stood with Book 3. I actually missed the deadline for the draft, but only by a few days (the original plan was to have the draft in to the publisher by June 1, but it was in not long after that, so we're talking a delay of days rather than weeks). The hope was to have it published and in-hand before Boston Comic Con (starting July 31). That MIGHT still be possible, but we'll see how the editing process goes. I don't want the editors to rush (we had to rush Book 2, Breakout, a bit to hit a preorder promise, and nobody was comfortable with that process in the end, so we're taking the appropriate steps this time around).

So, all in all: we're probably a month to eight weeks away from having the book available. Fingers crossed. The part that absolutely can't be rushed, the actual writing of it, is done, so now it's all about vetting it and making sure it's not a mess when it goes to print.

Speaking of Book 3, though, how about a synopsis of the plot? Here it is:

Time travel is a long-standing tradition among superheroes, and so when Anachronism Annie, a friend and ally of Doc Silence, asks the Indestructibles to journey with her to save an alternate future where everything has gone terribly wrong, the team agrees.

In this other timeline, a few small decisions have led to a much darker and more tragic world, and the adult versions of themselves the Indestructibles meet—Solar, the Dancer, Straylight, Whispering, and Entropy Emily—are nothing like they expected.

Are they heroes? Martyrs? Or even villains? And what happens when the young Indestructibles discover that the alternate future’s version of one of their own team has been turned into the very weapon that will be used to destroy the whole world? Can they team up with these darker versions of themselves to save an entire future?

They say when you time travel, you never come back the same. How will journeying through time change the Indestructibles? Will they ever be the same?
